Blizzard of 2010 - Stranded at Linzye's house...
So - as most of you already heard on Facebook (thanks a lot Linz!) Amy and I were stranded on Hytop mountain most of Friday while everyone else was fighting for their lives to make it up Stevenson mtn! It was an experience - let me tell you! When we were in Scotts it was raining, then sleet a minute then just rain - and we actually thought we'd believe the weather man knew what he was talking about - it wouldn't start snowing and junk til between 3-5....we had time to go up Hytop mtn to Linzye's, eat and still get home before that.....so we are heading up Hytop on 79.........and we turn a small bend and it's like a curtain is before us - we are in rain and in front of us is another world - a winter wonderland to be exact.....we were shocked....the snow was coming down, the road was covered with cars bumper to bumper and there was no where else to go but up - at like 2 miles an hour. No where to turn around - unless we wanted to try a U-turn on that small road like one car did....um no thank you...in just a few moments when we realized we were stuck until we got to the top of the mtn at least - I began laughing histerically - I do this sometimes when my nerves are on edge - might as well laugh at us - what idiots we were coming up there! So - Im laughing and then we see it - a big blue truck slams into a little red car in front - theses vehicles are coming DOWN the mtn. The red car slides sideways and heads straight for us. Amy starts panicking "They are going to hit us Cassie! They are going to hit us!" And trust me - she should have. The angles of our vehicles - it's only a miracle that she didn't hit us. If she had we would have slid of the side of the mtn there and been stopped by the trees....So - we have no choice but to continue up the mtn at 2 mph.....following everyone else - and the people that are still going down, they are flying! We are flashing our lights trying to warn them there is a wreck and they won't see it until they are too late! Oh well - we have no idea what happened after that - so we finally make it to Linzye's who thinks it is all so funny that we are stranded at her house - and she just loves it. It took Amy and I a while to let it sink in we weren't going anywhere anytime soon. We were still panicked for a while - Sis. Dean, Kelvin, mom and Alea, and Brooke, Gillian and Alec were all in Scotts trying to head home. So while we go back and forth bw all of them on phones while they are watching people wreck and slide everywhere, stranded on Stevenson mtn, it was a little nerve racking until we knew they were all home and safe. When that finally happened - I could actually breathe and laugh again :) We ended up going over to Sis. Wanda's and Bro. Totchie's for homemade pizza and games. It was fun. But the fun ended when Kyle and Herbie called saying they were on there way to get us :( We didn't want to leave then! LOL - we were in the middle of a game of Swap! So - by that night it was raining and had washed most of the ice away - no problem to drive then. Poor Kyle - he just can't live without Amy at home with him even one night! Clint was going to wait until Sat to come get us :) So anyhow - we'll never forget it - but we never want to repeat it!
Back a day or so - for the last 2 weeks we had singing school - 1st week at Brown's Chapel - 2nd week at Higdon. WE all really enjoyed it - I have a few pics here from our last night, Thursday before all the snow.....I believe Unlce Wayne is at Oak Grove this week and next.....if you are close by you should stop by - learn a few songs - learn how to sing your Do Re Mi's :) Some of you need to! LOL
So - big news - tonight starts the Final Season of Lost! 8 o'clock on ABC - don't miss it! And no - I do not have DVR and yes I know it will change my life but unless yall want to pay for cable for us - I can't help it! We get the free channels :) Well my lunch is calling to me and I really need to work today since I'm off tomorrow.....
